How it works
The calculator subtracts the date of birth from the reference date, carefully handling months of different lengths and leap years (February 29). The year count decrements by one if the current month and day haven't yet reached the birth month and day.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the age sometimes differ from a simple year subtraction?
If you haven't yet reached your birthday month and day in the current year, you're one year younger than year-to-year subtraction suggests. For example, if today is January 5 and your birthday is December 20, you haven't yet completed another year.
Does this account for leap years?
Yes. The day count (total days lived) includes all leap-year February 29s between your birth date and today.
